History Hub!

The Franklin’s Opus History Hub is an online community for all who love history.  We are striving to create a place where students, teachers, museums, historical organizations, and universities can gather online to discuss their historical interests and feed their hunger for knowledge in a venue focused strictly on History.  There is no charge to join our online community.  All individuals are welcome to join as a member and to create a group for your venue, group, or class.  The goal of this community is to provide a place where everyone with an interest in history can learn from and network with others who share their passion.

Please take time to read and adhere to our Community Code below.

Franklin’s Opus Online Community Code of Conduct

The purpose of the FO History Hub is to foster learning, networking, and resource sharing among history lovers, professionals, and organizations. We reserve the right to remove any content or to ban a participant who does not follow this community code.

These are our fundamental rules for all History Hub participants:

  • Respect: Please treat all other community members with respect. Avoid any personal attacks, slurs, profanity, vulgarity or abuse in your comments. It is expected that group members will be respectful of differing opinions and backgrounds. Healthy disagreement is encouraged; however, anyone making insulting, harassing, or personally disrespectful comments will be asked to desist, and if necessary, will be banned from the network.
  • Commercial Content: The purpose of the FO History Hub is for the exchange of information and resources among members.  We welcome event postings and resources from all of our historical organizations but we discourage any guerrilla marketing campaigns that involve repeated contact to members who do not belong to your group.  However, postings containing suggestions or resources related to commercial content in blogs and/or other pages  is appropriate only when it contributes a valuable resource either in response to an existing question/discussion, or when its inclusion is directly pertinent to the topic being discussed.
  • Appropriate Content: Please use good common sense when posting content and participating in discussions. This includes, but is not limited to, the following guidelines:
    1. Do not submit content that may express pornography, obscenity, vulgarity, profanity, hatred, bigotry, racism or violence.
    2. Do not submit anything that you should keep confidential under any law. For example, do not submit information subject to a non-disclosure agreement, any inside information, or any proprietary or confidential information that you may have learned from an employer or any other person.
    3. Do not submit or upload any material that could harm or disrupt another user’s computer system, including software viruses, spyware, or other similar programs, or would allow others to inappropriately access software or websites.
    4. Limit your submissions to content relevant to the subject at hand and the purpose of the FO History Hub.
    5. Do not submit links to any external site that may violate these rules.

If community members notice spam, inappropriate postings, or any violation of these community guidelines, they are encouraged to contact a FO History Hub  manager. Community managers will use their discretion in determining the appropriateness of postings or member activities within the community and will take follow up action as needed.

Content Cleanup
We move Forum discussions that look like they belong in a different category. We close duplicate discussions and point people to ongoing discussions about the same topic. We don’t intend to censor anyone, but we may remove a discussion or replies in a discussion if they’re causing confusion, are mean-spirited, or are otherwise inappropriate.
